How to make a Purchase

Erna Chosa Wilson is of Hopi-Tewa (father, Tom Collateta) and Jemez (mother, Antonita Chosa) heritage. She has been an active potter since 1978 working in traditional black & red on tanware jars, bowls, wedding vases and textiles. She is the granddaughter of Sarah Collateta; daughter of Antonita Chosa Colateta; and sister to Anthony Chosa and Kathleen Collateta. Erna lives at Jemez Pueblo with her husband William Wilson (Cherokee). She works with Hopi clay and Utilizes Hopi symbols, forma and techniques to create her work.

Erna has won numerous awards at the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts & Crafts Fair, the Jemez Pueblo Arts & Crafts Fair and the Santo Domingo Pueblo Art Show. Theresa R. Garcia-Salvador was born into the Acoma Pueblo in 1964 and is the sister of Vivian Seymour. She is a member of the Red Corn Clan and has been an active potter since the 80s working in traditional polychrome jars and bowls. She is included in several publications including Schaaf's "Southern Pueblo Pottery Artist Biographies" , and Berger & Schiffer's "Pueblo & Navajo Contemporary Pottery". The wedding vase at top features classic a classic Acoma motif which includes the parrot that symbolizes the female, fertility and family. How to make a Purchase

Georgia Vigil is from Jemez Pueblo, Coyote Clan, and has been making pottery since 1984 working with Mimbres Rival, matte polychrome, sgraffito blackware and redware jars, vases and bowls. She is the daughter of Marie Vigil and sister of Lorraine Chinana and Ida Yepa. Georgia was taught traditional pueblo pottery making by her grandmother, Reyes Toya. Her work is included in Dr. Gregory Schaaf's book "Southern Pueblo Pottery: 2000 Artist Biographies" and in American Indian Art Magazine. Georgia has won awards at the New Mexico State Fair and the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial.

Veronica Sando has been an active Jemez Pueblo potter since 1987 creating tradition jars, bowls and wedding vases. She is the granddaughter of Louisa Panana who was also her teacher. Her work has been published in Dr. Gregory Schaaf’s “Southern Pueblo Pottery: 2000 Artist Biographies” and Berger and Schiffer’s “Pueblo & Navajo Contemporary Pottery”.

How to make a Purchase

Deldrick Cellicion collaborates with his wife, Lorenda Cellicion, at Zuni Pueblo to create polychrome jars, bowls, effigies and wedding vases. His favorite designs are lizards, salamanders, frogs, rosettes, feathers and scroll but it has been the salamander designs that have captured the eye of many pueblo pottery enthusiasts and collectors in recent years.

Kathleen Collateta is from Hopi and is a member of the Sun Clan. She has been an active potter since 1975 working on black and red on yellow seed pots, black and red on white, and a variety of styles on wedding vases.  She is of Jemez, Hopi-Tewa and Navajo descent. Her mother is Antonita Chosa of Jemez Pueblo. Her father is Tom Collateta Sr., who is Hopi-Tewa and Navajo. Kathleen was taught how to create traditional pottery by her grandmother, Sarah Collateta, using the clays of Hopi and pigments created from organic sources. She collaborates with her husband, Adrian Sandia to create her pottery and is best known for her eloquent wedding vases. She is published in Gregory Schaaf’s “Hopi Tewa Pottery” and Berger & Schiffer’s book ”Pueblo and Navajo Contemporary Pottery”.

She often uses birds and feathers in her motifs as symbols of the sacred and messengers that carry prayers. This wedding vase includes a Hopi kachina dancer, feathers and eagle tails. It measures 12 inches tall by 6.5 inches wide has excellent shape and graphics.
