Julian Martinez
was a very important artist in the early pueblo art movement and taught
many of its outstanding artists. He was best known
for his art work on the pottery created by his wife, the famous Maria
Martinez. This watercolor is from his realistic period prior to
when he began the type of work seen on Maria's pottery. Any collector
of pueblo pottery can appreciate the value of such a piece as it relates
to the highly coveted work produced by this talented and historically
significant couple. |
