"Two Gray Hills" rugs are named after two trading posts north of Gallup, New Mexico. Their weaving feature natural, handspun and carded wool , woven in patterns of terraced and serrated diamond centers, quarter diamond corner elements with full or half borders. Ida McDonald is of the Navajo Nation and lives in Crystal, New Mexico. She learned to weave as a child from her mother and continues to weave today in her late 60s. She is the daughter of Martha and Chee McDonald and sister to Billy McDonald, Lorena McDonald, Harold McDonald, and Estelle McDonald. This piece was created in 2005 and woven in handspun, carded grays, natural white, brown and black.
