How
to make a Purchase
Arlan
Dempsey is
of Laguna / Navajo heritage. He has
been working with clay since the 1990s creating white or gray clay
masks and dance figures. He has been exhibiting since 1994 principally
at the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show. His
favorite design is the Navajo Ye'ii Bicheii.
His
work has been published in Hayes & Bloms "Southwestern Pottery:
Anasazi to Zuni", and Dr. Gregory Schaaf's book "Southern Pueblo
Pottery: 2000 Artist Biographies".
This
is a stunning piece with wonderful detail in the feathers and
mantel. Arlan does an extraordinary job conveying motion in the ripples
of the clothing - a very strong presence of Spirit.
